It is pretty easy to spend several hours a day glued to the screen of a television. In a year, a person is presumed to watch approximately two entire months’ worth of tV. Some argue that this  television ADDICTION has contributed significantly to North America’s obesity epidemic. Finding an alternative to watching hours of tV a day can be daunting for certain people who cannot skip a specific program they watch daily. Despite the temptation that tV provides, there are many more enjoyable things that one can engage in during those few hours spent daily in front of the small screen.

Since tV is a significant contributor to weight issues, exercising instead of binge watching of sitcoms seems like a sensible thing to do. Exercising is not only a fun way to pass the time, but it is also a perfect way to burn calories. Simply going for a brisk walk outdoors not only helps one escape the enticement that is tV, but it also has a plethora of health benefits. Exercising and helping with weight loss can improve the capacity of the heart and lungs to work more effectively and make a person feel better both inside and out.

Taking up a hobby is another great way to avoid watching television. A person can learn and grow a new skill, such as knitting or darts, or start a collection of things that could become a lifelong leisure activity for them. Reading is also another excellent way to avoid  television addiction. Reading encourages one to be creative, expands one’s imagination, and promotes mental health.
